CANNABIS INVENTORY PROCEDURES 101
Cannabis inventory procedures should ensure that cannabis is delivered to consumers safely and not illegally diverted. Here are some things to think about if a cannabis client requests help with inventory standard operating procedures (SOPs):
- Make sure that your client is familiar with their jurisdiction’s track-and-trace system and incorporates system functionality into their SOP. State and local regulations often provide general guidance on inventory procedures, but inventory SOPs should also incorporate the step-by-step functionality of any technology solution a client chooses to use. Many technology providers offer helpful inventory how-to guides and training which can be invaluable when writing a SOP.
- Clearly outline who will and will not have access to areas in which cannabis goods are stored. Access to these areas should be limited and restricted to only essential employees.
